Mary Cummins BSc, M.A.
As a career and executive coach, Mary has significant experience in career change, transition and management. She has a broad and extensive background and has worked in the private, public and voluntary sectors. Having worked in various positions and settings over many years, including being a Senior Leader in a large public sector organisation, Mary sometimes witnessed people's dissatisfaction with their roles; limited opportunities for progression, poor work life balance or lack of meaningful work. Recognising the impact on their career happiness and general wellbeing prompted Mary’s passion in supporting others to find career fulfilment and satisfaction. Mary focusses on helping her clients to understand clearly the things they can do and love to do.
Mary provides a safe, confidential, creative and non-judgemental
space, asking thought-provoking questions, and actively listening to provide
insightful feedback, enabling clients explore, reflect and make good
decisions. She applies a range of proven tools and techniques in her
coaching, as well as drawing on her own personal and professional experience of
change and development.
In addition to her coaching qualification (QQI level 6, Distinction), Mary has studied Psychology to degree level and has an M.A. in Learning & Development (consultancy) from UCC. She also holds a Diploma in Training & Development, a Diploma in Social Care and has enjoyed engaging in courses such as Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy and Gestalt counselling. Mary is a member of the European Mentoring and Coaching Council. (Ireland)

Mary was a pleasure to work with and presented an engaging and insightful session. Our attendees, who are practising solicitors, found the event thought-provoking and beneficial. The webinar was excellent and all feedback was positive. We are happy to recommend Mary as an expert in her field.”

Mary Cummins from Careerchanger.ie gave a Masterclass in Strengths Profiling and Interview Techniques to our 3rd year students at MTU Kerry campus in November 2022. This group of students are preparing to start work placement in January. Mary’s content was excellent and Mary engaged the students from the very start with her calm and practical delivery style . The students were made comfortable in asking questions and carrying out activities and Mary, with her extensive practical experience in industry, gave practical advice and real scenarios that could occur in the selection process. The student feedback was excellent and I have no hesitation in recommending Mary for similar sessions in the Higher Education Sector.

Mary is a top-class Career Coach. She really helped me get my mojo back, and her advice and support has given me back the belief that I have value and there is a job out there for me. (B.M. - Corporate Hospitality)
"I came to Mary after having a series of unsuccessful job applications with different organizations for positions that I thought I was well qualified for. I want to say a big thank you Mary for all the support, encouragement and coaching you gave me during my two sessions with you. At a point where I was feeling low with my self-esteem, you helped with bringing out the best in me and re-establishing my self-confidence. I would not have lifted to the level I did without your tips. As you know this is something I generally struggle with and has always been tough for me. On this occasion I was able to be more composed and more myself, and relax (as best one can in these situations). (C.P., Tax Director)
"I am currently experiencing a time of transition in my career - assessing where I am and where I want to be to find more fulfillment in my life. To help in this process I engaged the services of career coach Mary at Careerchanger.ie. The tools Mary uses for strengths profiling, the very detailed report provided and the in depth discussions have been greatly beneficial to me .. particularly in identifying unrealised potential I can leverage as I move forward. Mary has a very holistic approach to career planning - considering all aspects of the individual and I really appreciated her open style, her ability to ask probing questions and offer great insights based on her study in psychology. I would highly recommend her to anybody at a crossroads be it as a result of a career change already in progress or through a desire to bring about a change in the near future". ( Finance Manager, Healthcare Technology)

“I was unemployed for the first time in 35 years, with no CV and confidence at an all-time low. I reached out to Mary for help. Together we built a CV that I am very happy with. Her knowledge and professional approach put me at ease from the outset and made the process an enjoyable experience. She gave me some great interview tips and boosted my confidence by helping me to realise my strengths. This made job hunting less daunting. Thanks Mary”. (Roy, Cork - Regional Manager)
"I availed of one 90-minute coaching session with Mary. I even surprised myself with what came up for me in the session! I really had blocked a previous role out of my mind, and I totally forgot until that day that I did in fact have an interest in being a kitchen/bedroom design consultant. Now I see the general atmosphere and culture in that company sort of squashed that little spark (and other interior design related possibilities I had thought of). It seems my unconscious mind just blanked it out as a reaction. I've learnt to link the experiences together and find the connections and disconnections. In my own head for a long time, I had been looking at the situation in a bit of a disjointed way, but Mary definitely set me on the right path, and now I can put all my energy into building myself up and getting into the right area. Thanks again Mary." (CC, Interior Design)
"I went about searching for someone who could help me find answers in terms of my career and how to get a better angle in terms of improving my presentation and delivery, to make myself stand out from the crowd. I came across Mary Cummins of Careerchanger.ie. I contacted Mary for information regarding my career in EHS and how I could make improvements with my CV etc. We had a chat and Mary put a plan in place very quickly. She reviewed my CV and made many changes to it. Mary communicated with me regularly and I was really happy with the outcome. Mary is very hard working and dedicated to her clients and her profession. I would highly recommend Mary for her professional service. Not alone that but she is extremely accommodating and I look forward to working with her in the future". (Eoin., Cork - E.H.S)
